MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish police have arrested a British man accused of 14 counts of sexual abuse against underage girls, police said on Friday.
The National Police Web site added that "Peter C.", aged42, was arrested in the southern resort of Marbella followingthe issue of a European arrest warrant by a court in Guildford,in Surrey, at the end of May.
Crucial to the arrest was an exchange of informationbetween Spanish police and Britain's Serious and OrganisedCrime Agency.
If found guilty, the man could face from 10 to 14 years injail for crimes allegedly committed between 1989 and 2006, thepolice added.
European arrest warrants provide for extradition withoutseparate proceedings and are usually executed within 60 days.
