NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks added to gains on Tuesday after stronger-than-expected data on U.S. factory activity eased some concerns about the economy.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 223.26 points, or 1.82 percent, at 12,486.15. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 23.52 points, or 1.78 percent, at 1,346.22. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 43.10 points, or 1.89 percent, at 2,322.20.
