Loud noise, smoke reported at New York's Indian Point nuclear plant

(Reuters) - A loud noise was reported at the Indian Point nuclear plant in the area of Buchanan, New York state, but reports of a transformer fire and explosion have not immediately been confirmed, a New York State police spokesman said.

Local television station WABC reported smoke could be seen rising from the plant. The police spokesman said no injuries have been reported at the site.
