NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened higher on Tuesday as investors snapped up financial shares after Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> shot up 161.54 points, or 1.32 percent, to 12,424.43. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> jumped 17.80 points, or 1.35 percent, to 1,340.50. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 34.66 points, or 1.52 percent, to 2,313.76.
