Wall St extends gains after factory orders

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks added to gains on Wednesday after a government report showed a stronger-than-expected reading in May factory orders.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 40.22 points, or 0.35 percent, at 11,422.48. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 6.82 points, or 0.53 percent, at 1,291.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 6.28 points, or 0.27 percent, at 2,311.25.
